The Fat Pheasant is owned by local businesswoman Karina Bowlby. Karina who was born and bred in South Queensferry had been a regular at the pub for many years before it closed.

Saddened by the loss of the pub to the local community Karina decided to take on the project of refurbishing it and reopening it as pub that provides locally sourced Scottish food with a strong focus on game.

We work very hard to make our business sustainable and our Chefs work cleverly to ensure the minimum amount of wastage. Most of our food we get from suppliers within a 20 minute drive whilst supporting small, independent businesses such as Castle Game and John Lawson Butchers.

All food is brought in fresh and cooked to order so a little patience may be required whilst the food is made but we guarantee it will be worth it.

The sister business of the Fat Pheasant is Stewarton Polo Club so don’t be at all surprised to see Polo on the TV.

The Fat Pheasant is handily located with many good walks around Hopetoun House in walking distance and Outlander places of interest close by. We also have a bike rack which is visible from the Conservatory dining room for keen
